Join us on Tuesday, March 14 @ 6:30 pm for a presentation entitled “A New Woman for a New Century: Ellen C. Wright and the Women’s Experience” presented by Ruth Brindle, Curator of the Quaker Heritage Center at Wilmington College.
Ellen C. Wright (second from right in the photo above), or “Teacher Ellen” as she was often called, was a member of the first graduating class from Wilmington College in 1875. Teacher Ellen returned to the college and was a member of the faculty for 45 years. Wright made daily journal entries about her experiences at the college and life in general. Ruth will be highlighting some of these entries and discussing how they connect to the larger experience of women as a whole during the early 20th century.
