If trying to research your Clinton County, Ohio, roots from afar, here are some pointers.

Obituary lookups

The library has Wilmington, Ohio, newspapers on microfilm; however, contents are not indexed. Due to time constraints, staff cannot perform broad searches for obituaries, births or other family occurrences. Staff can do a limited search of the microfilm if you provide a name and specific date. Charges are 20 cents per photocopy plus postage. In some cases, the library is able to scan the relevant newspaper page from microfilm then provide the scan as a PDF email attachment.

County records

The library does not have copies of Clinton County records. Records of use to genealogists such as birth, death, and marriage, are retained by various Clinton County government departments depending on the record’s nature and date.
